Used Auto Dealers
Used Auto Dealers are a good option for those people who do not wish to buy a new car. They have taken this decision as they either cannot afford a new auto or they do not wish to pay the higher cost of a new auto.
The value of new cars falls continuously and in some cases dramatically from when it is driven of the showroom floor. The amount of yearly depreciation will depend on initial cost and quality, market demand for the make and model, and the yearly mileage and upkeep of the car. Most cars will depreciate in value between 10 and 30% per year.
Many Used Auto Dealers, particularly those who only sell used cars will buy their cars from auto wholesalers and car auctions. The later buys the cars from other new and used car dealers around the country. In this case the history of the car is less certain and the buyer is under more risk of buying "someone else's problem"
Used Auto Dealers are in many cases also a new car dealer and often will have in house workshops for mechanical and auto body work and also in house auto finance offices. Many of the auto's they have on their lots will have been traded in for new cars by them and in many cases the dealer will have sold the car new to its original owners and also maintained it for that owner. Therefore they will have an intimate knowledge of the particular used car and this can make buying these cars a very good option. The dealer will have a vested interest in selling you a quality and reliable used car in the hope of securing your on going business for repairs and maintenance and future auto purchases.
All Used Auto Dealers have salesman who are paid, in part at least in commission. They will earn more if they sell a car for a higher price closer to the sticker price. A buyer should visit a number of Used Car Dealers before making a purchase at least to compare pricing and condition of available options ensure that they are paying fair market value when they do purchase.
Before visiting the Used Auto Dealer the purchaser should conduct research and answer a few questions.
- How much can I afford to pay for a used car?
- How will I finance the purchase?
- What purpose will the car need to fulfill?
- What type of driving will I be doing?
